It could be argued that mystery is at the heart of faith. And yet, as the
Southern fiction writer, Flannery O’Conner has said, “mystery is the
embarrassment of the modern mind.” How do we resolve this tension
between mystery and a modern, rational understanding of the universe?
Is there a tension? We’ll explore these questions and more on All
Hallow’s Eve, and ask how a richer understanding of “spirituality”
might help make room for the unexplainable in our faith.
