Dialogue Across Difference Lunch and Lecture
February 23, 2020 @ 11:30 am - 1:45 pm
February 22-23, 2020
If you’ve ever struggled to have conversations with family or friends with whom you disagree, felt conflicted about “speaking the truth in love,” or wondered how Northminster can continue to live into the early motto of “Agree to Differ, Resolve to Love, Unite to Serve,” – Come, learn, enjoy and depart with improved skills in Careful Listening and Careful Speech.
Our workshop leader, Robert R. (Bob) Stains, Jr., M.Ed., is Senior Associate at Essential Partners in Cambridge, Massachusetts, an organization specializing in helping people and communities connect beyond issues and positions, staying present to each other’s concerns and often finding new possibilities and deepened relationships through challenging conversations.
Dialogue Intensive
February 22 from 9am to 5pm
Through teaching and practice, Bob will help us learn a practice called Reflective Structured Dialogue.
Churchwide Workshop
Immediately Following Worship on February 23
We will have lunch followed by a one-hour workshop designed to equip the congregation with tools for difficult conversations.
